Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of newswedishcinema.se and any related services (the “Site”). By using the Site or creating an account you agree to these Terms.

1. Who runs the Site

The Site is operated privately. For all legal or account-related enquiries, please write to contact.newswedishcinema@gmail.com. References to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean the private operator of the Site.

2. Who can use the Site

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and at least 18 or have permission from a parent or guardian to purchase a subscription. You must give accurate information and keep your password secure. You are responsible for anything done through your account.

3. What we do

The Site shows one curated Swedish short film per evening, alongside creator profiles, patronage tiers and occasional editorial features. We may add, change or remove features at any time.

4. Subscriptions and payments

Paid tiers (Premium, Creator, Deluxe) are billed monthly in Swedish kronor (SEK) through our payment processor Stripe. Prices are shown on the /patronage page. New paid subscriptions include a 7-day free trial — you may cancel before the trial ends and pay nothing. After the trial the subscription renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

5. Right of withdrawal

As a consumer in the EU/EEA you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal from distance contracts. Because the Site delivers digital content immediately, by starting to watch films during the trial or paid period you expressly consent that performance has begun and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal is lost once you have accessed the content.

6. Your content and submissions

Films submitted through the Site are governed by our separate Film Submission Agreement, which forms part of these Terms when you submit a film. You keep ownership of your work; the licence you grant us is defined there.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) copy, download, record or redistribute streamed films or other Site content except where the Site expressly allows it; (b) attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Site; (c) upload unlawful, infringing, defamatory or harmful material; (d) use the Site to spam, harass or impersonate anyone; (e) share your account credentials or resell access.

8. Intellectual property

The design, code, editorial copy and branding of the Site are owned by us or our licensors. Films and other creator content are owned by their respective authors and licensed to us as described in the Film Submission Agreement.

9. Suspension and termination

You may close your account at any time from the account page. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms, are involved in fraud, or that we reasonably believe threaten the Site or other users. If you had an active paid subscription at the time of closure, it will be cancelled and no further charges will be made.

10. Disclaimers

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties about uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that specific films will be available on any specific date.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by Swedish and EU law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Site is limited to the amounts you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law.

12. Privacy

We process personal data to run the Site (accounts, payments, communications). We use Stripe as our payment processor and Resend as our email provider. You have the rights granted under the GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection). For any privacy request, email contact.newswedishcinema@gmail.com.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the Site. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Swedish law. Any dispute shall be settled by the general courts of Sweden, with Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt) as the court of first instance, unless mandatory consumer law directs otherwise.
